Dear DAYS family,
We hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy, and finding ways to enjoy summer a little differently this year! Here at UCLA, the DAYS team is looking forward to the re-opening of our research lab this summer. Indeed, the World Health Organization reports that the dramatic changes we have all experienced over the last several months are likely to take a serious toll on mental health around the globe. With this in mind, we are especially eager to connect with our families to see how they are doing, and, where needed connect them with resources.
As the City of Los Angeles has been gradually lifting the restrictions of the stay-at-home order, we have been following the guidance of the infectious disease experts at UCLA to help us develop a plan to resume operations while prioritizing the health and safety of our families and staff. This plan follows similar safety measures implemented by UCLA Health, which include comprehensive, effective infection prevention practices so that patients can feel safe coming in for care.
Requiring brain scan personnel to complete additional COVID-19 safety training
Limiting the number of people in our workspaces and staggering work shifts to maintain social distancing and low population densities
Screening staff, visitors, and patients for COVID-19 symptoms
Requiring that anyone entering University buildings wears a mask or cloth face covering
Full cleaning of high-contact surfaces and lab equipment between each visit including keyboards, computer mice, door handles, chairs, etc.
By enforcing these safety guidelines, our team is confident that we will be able to safely resume operations in the coming weeks. If you are due for a follow-up visit with us, we will be reaching out soon regarding scheduling. We look forward to seeing you again!
